Coach Carlos Diaz is the Head Wrestling Coach at Grand Oaks High School and brings a strong background as both a competitor and a leader. As a former nationally ranked college wrestler, he was a Top 20 NAIA athlete, a Team National Champion (NJCAA), and the 2018 Men’s Student-Athlete of the Year. In high school, he was a 2x District Champion, Region 3 Champion, State Qualifier, and State Alternate. Coach Diaz is passionate about helping young athletes grow in skill, confidence, and character both on and off the mat.
He holds a Bachelor’s in International Business and an MBA from Southeastern University, along with an Associate of Business Administration from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M — graduating with a 4.0 GPA in both undergraduate and associate programs. Outside of wrestling, he’s a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt, photographer/videographer, and enjoys skateboarding, cooking, and spending time with his wife Alyssa and their child. In addition to coaching at Grand Oaks, Coach Diaz also leads Finesse Wrestling Club, a year-round youth program focused on Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco-Roman wrestling.
Mr. Kenneth Taylor serves as the Assistant Coach for the Grand Oaks High School Wrestling Team. Coach Taylor has been at Grand Oaks since 2019 . Being an Oak Ridge High School graduate, he has deep roots in Conroe ISD. He is a local wrestler and has been an athlete in the sport in the Spring area since 2007. He holds a Bachelor's degree in History from Sam Houston State University.
